Pride Ambassadors

We have student Pride Ambassadors in school who are there to support everyone with any worries or questions regarding LGBT+ matters. They also represent students by putting forward their views on how to improve Granville for everyone, especially LGBT+ students. Pride Ambassadors are identified by their pin badges.

Our Pride Ambassadors undertake a variety of leadership tasks and have recently had the opportunity to select and purchase a range of books for our school library. They have also chosen a variety of games for our Free to be Me club. We have already received some great feedback from our students about this.

Free to be Me Club

Our Free to be Me club is our student-led, school-based club for LGBT+ students and allies (straight and cisgender people who support LGBT+ equality). That means anyone is welcome, as long as they commit to the shared values of equality and tolerance promoted by the group. The group is supported by a member of school staff.

Our Free to be Me club runs every Wednesday during lunchtimes, at 12.20 p.m. and 1.20 p.m.
The club provides a safe social space for students to meet other young people, learn about the LGBTQ+ community, and most of all… have fun!

“The Free to be Me group is inclusive, and students are able to be themselves. It’s nice to know that there are people who are there for us, so we can talk about ourselves without any judgement." Year 9 Student
